Empowering communities through digital learning and ICT access.
Stands as a beacon of empowerment and inclusion for both the served and underserved sectors, championing the progressive initiatives of the Department of Information and Technology (DICT). Driven by its vision of addressing the digital divide and promoting innovation, the center provides various technological services, acting as a vital hub for advancing technological literacy and capability within the community. Over the past two years of the current administration, there had been approximately 8.8% annual increase in the external services offered by the center.
To sum it up, there had been a total of 19 new services provided since 2023 in response to the growing demand from different barangays and offices for hardware and software support. This achievement stands as a testament of the center’s continuous initiative and progress in bridging the digital divide by equipping individuals with the necessary tools and knowledge. The Tech4Ed Center’s challenge now lies in expanding its capacity and personnel to serve an even broader range of individuals, barangays, and offices.
The greatest accomplishment of the Tech4Ed Center in the year 2024 was its award of 3rd Place in the MIMAROPA Region for significant contributions to technology and education. The center has boosted digital literacy and community innovation through the services it provided, namely, Computer Services, Hardware Servicing, Software Servicing, LAN Installation, Online Government Services Assistance, and eTechnology Education. Beyond providing modern computing facilities with essential software, technical support, and maintenance, the center takes pride in its offered tutorial sessions, trainings, and course on basic computer operation which produced self-sufficient community members in handling technology. Considering its ongoing much needed office location expansion, being hailed as one of the most outstanding Tech4Ed center in the region is a significant milestone not only for the center being a testament to the transformative power of technology in serving communities but most importantly to its beneficiaries as they embrace more opportunities to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
As part of its effort to bridge the digital gap between "information-rich" and "information-poor" communities through ICT tools and services, Pinamalayan Tech4ED offers ICT-focused training seminars for a diverse range of participants, including teachers, students, women, barangay officials and secretaries, and individuals from the business sector.
These training programs are tailored to the specific needs of the participants. For instance, the ICT Symposia organized by the CeC, typically covering basic computer skills, free and open-source technologies, and issues like software piracy, differs from the module used for DepEd Teachers who lack computer literacy, as well as sessions held in collaboration with ALS-TESDA.
Despite the challenges due to the relocation, Tedch4ED continues to empower individuals to participate actively in the digital world, access a wide range of information, and take advantage of opportunities offered by digital technologies.
This service bridges the gap of digital divide as computer literacy is increased opening limitless opportunities to its beneficiaries. Participants who initially lacked any knowledge in this service acquired competence, while others progressed to attain advanced skills in computer literacy. The participants of this service became productive and efficient in performing daily tasks in their respective sectors, becoming an asset of the country in nation-building towards a competitive Philippines.
